I have a puzzling situation. I've been using the TeradataR package in R to connect to my company's teradata databases for a while now, but I can't seem to figure out why I can't connect remotely. I thought when I originally started using teradataR, I could connect remotely, but I can't any more.
It seems that if I'm at work, logged in through our company's authenticated network (which requires my LDAP username and password), I have no problem connecting, but if I'm at home, I boot up my VPN and can access any other restricted site for my company, but I can't connect to teradata.
I tried including my domain in my username
tdConnection <- dbConnect(drv, st,user = "domain\username" , password = "password")
But that doesn't seem to help at all. I continue to only get the error code below:
Error in .jcall(drv@jdrv, "Ljava/sql/Connection;", "connect", as.character(url), :
com.teradata.jdbc.jdbc_4.util.JDBCException: [Teradata JDBC Driver] [TeraJDBC 14.00.00.09] [Error 1000] [SQLState 08S01] Login failure for Connection to [DSN address] Sat Mar 10 16:02:20 CST 2012 socket orig=[DSN address] cid=3959199 sess=0 java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect
Is there something I'm missing in the connection process that needs additional information?
